The Poetry Society’s Slam Championship is entering its ninth year. There have been exhilarating live events, new talents and contestants from every faith background and ability. The aim is to involve as many young people as possible in reading, writing and performing poetry.
SLAMbassadors old and new will be performing at FUSE and talent scouting the spoken word artists of 2010! Can you spit? Emcee? Beatbox? Perform poetry? Want to learn? Then take part in the Poetry Society workshops, learn to write and deliver your own piece and you’ll have a chance to perform in Kensington Gardens to a live audience. You will also have the opportunity to record your piece and sign up to take part in SLAMbassadors UK, the Poetry Society’s national youth performance poetry championship.
The SLAMbassadors will be performing on the Outdoor Stage from 12.45 -13.00 and 18.45 – 19.00.
SLAM workshops will run from 2pm– 5pm and a poetry surgery will run 5pm – 6pm, there’s no need to book, just drop in, start writing and film your piece to camera.
